A brief introduction to the 26th Regiment Royal Artillery Association from the Secretary :
First and foremost, I would like to welcome you to the 26 Regiment Royal Artillery Association website. As you will discover there is a host of different types of web page's for you to explore to find out what has been going on and what is coming up in the foreseeable future.
The association came about when a couple of ex-members of the Regiment reunited their friendship and acquaintance in 1993, at Blackpool. From this meeting a temporary committee was formed by Brian Henderson and then the work commenced trying to get in touch with other ex-members of the Regiment to find out if they would be interested in getting together for a weekend.
With great success and astonishment the 1st official reunion was held a year later at the Adelphi Hotel, Liverpool on the 26th November 1994. A total of 500 people attended the reunion and this support is still going strong some 16 years later.
This association has only been successful because of the total commitment the committee members “past and present” have given over the years, listening to these members it hasn't been unproblematic, but it has been worth every minute of their valuable time.
Currently there are 500 full members, with 195 members attending the last reunion in March 2010 at the Britannia Hotel, Coventry. This was the second time the association has used this venue and it was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended.
The association is open for anyone who has severed or serving in 26 Regiment Royal Artillery, whatever their cap badge. If you wish to become a member of the association you can do this by downloading the membership form, complete it and then forward it to me with a one off payment of £5.00 or £19 for a memberships and regimental tie.
The reunions are held bi-annually and the next one being in 2012, so if you wish to attend, please keep yourself up to-date with what is going on by this means, as we the committee will endeavour to keep in touch with other members by post etc.
I have now been in the post of secretary for 2 years and successfully arranged my first reunion and work has now started towards the next one. The success of this association is purely down to its members, not individuals and I believe we have a lot of good times ahead of us, so I ask all members to give their support.
